President calls for improved communication President Mwai Kibaki has called for improved transport and communication network within African countries, noting that this was the key to increased trade on the continent. Speaking when he received a special message from Ghanaian President John Kufuor at State House Nairobi today, President Kibaki said improved communication links would facilitate trade and promote the continent's economic development. The special message was delivered by Ghanaian Minister for Finance and Economic planning Yaw Osafo-Maafo. On the bilateral
front, President Kibaki said Kenya and Ghana should On his part, Mr. Osafo-Maafo commended the President for his role in the revival of the East African Community saying the regional economic bloc would boost the economy of the East African Community member states. He also hailed President Kibaki's role in mediating peace in Sudan and Somalia. The Ghanaian Finance Minister further hailed Kenya Airways for its flights to Ghana and most parts of West Africa, saying this had greatly increased trade within Africa. Present were Foreign Affairs Assistant Minister Moses Wetangula, Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet Amb. Francis Muthaura, Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Amb. Esther Tolle and Mr. Chris Kirubi, Ghana's honorary consul in Kenya. |
