President
Kibaki receives arousing welcome in the Gambia President Mwai Kibaki arrived in Banjul Gambia this evening for a four-day official visit where he will attend the 7th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of African Union Heads of State and Government. The plane carrying President Kibaki and the First Lady Lucy Kibaki touched down at the Banjul International Airport shortly after 8-pm Kenyan time. On arrival President Kibaki was given a rousing welcome by his host President Yahya AJJ Jammeh and the Gambian First Lady Madam Zainab Yahya Jammeh and thereafter entertained by various groups of traditional dancers. During his
visit, President Kibaki will also attend the African Peer Review Mechanism
Forum of Heads of State and Government at which the APRM secretariat will
present the Country reports of both Kenya and Rwanda. The president is also accompanied by ministers Raphael Tuju, Henry Obwocha and Permanent Secretaries Ambassador Lazarus Amayo, Dr. Edward Sambili and Dorothy Angote among other senior Government officials. |
