President Mwai Kibaki meets with Burundi President Pierre NKurunzinza at the VIP pavilion of J.K.I.Airport shortly before they departed for an official visit to Doha, Qatar where they will attend the International conference on finance and development

President Kibaki leaves for Qatar International Finance Conference

President Mwai Kibaki left the country this afternoon for a three day official visit to Doha, Qatar to attend the International Conference on Finance and Development.

The President who departed from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly before 4:00 pm had earlier on held discussions with President Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi.

The two leaders discussed regional issues touching on the current conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo and other challenges facing the Greater Lakes Region.

Thereafter the two leaders traveled together to Doha, Qatar to attend the Conference.

To see off the President at the airport were the Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet Amb. Francis Muthaura and Chief of the General Staff General Jeremiah Kianga and other senior Government officials.

President Kibaki is accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Moses Wetangula and Transport Minister Chirau Ali Mwakwere.
