Three
bills assented to
His Excellency President Mwai Kibaki has signed into law the following
bills;
1. National Police Service Commission Bill 2011. The bill makes further
provisions for the functions and powers of the National Police Service
Commission, the qualifications and procedures for appointment, and for
connected purposes.
2. Female Genital Mutilation Bill 2011. The bill now creates an act of
parliament that prohibits the practice of female genital mutilation, safeguards
against violation of a persons mental or physical integrity through the
practice of female genital mutilation and for connected purposes.
3. Kenya Citizens and Foreign Nationals Management Service Bill 2011.
This now creates an act of parliament to establish the Kenya Citizens
and Foreign Nationals Management Service, to provide for the creation
and maintenance of a national population register and the administration
of the laws relating to births and deaths, identification and registration
of citizens, immigration and refugees; administration of the laws relating
to marriages and for connected purposes.
