First Lady holds talks with Chinese Ambassador

First Lady Mrs. Lucy Kibaki today held talks with the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya H.E Ming Zhang.

The talks, held at the Marriott hotel, Beijing, focused on the activities of the Kenyan Chapter of the Organization of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA).

During the talks the First Lady hailed the co-operation between China and Kenya. She indicated the readiness of OAFLA Kenya to forge a partnership with the Chinese Government towards realizing the objectives of OAFLA.

She welcomed the pledge by the Chinese Ambassador to support the organization in fighting HIV/AIDS and mitigating the social-economic impact of the epidemic.

Earlier in the day, the First Lady had joined other African First Ladies for a special theatre performance hosted by Chinese First Lady, Liu Yongqing.

The special performance, presented by the China Disabled People's Art Troupe, was staged by physically challenged artists among them the blind and the deaf, at the Beizhan Theatre, Beijing.

The hosting of the performance was a reaffirmation of the commitment of the First Ladies to express solidarity and provide support to the disadvantaged particularly the physically challenged.

The First Lady is accompanying President Mwai Kibaki for the Beijing Summit on China Africa co-operation.
